Sailing the Small Business Seas:
Making a Plan
with Roslyn Donald
________
“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt
Starting or running a small business is an exciting journey filled with possibilities — it’s also a path that requires careful navigation. Of course, it's possible to travel without a map, but that only increases the odds of getting lost along the way. For entrepreneurs and small business owners, a well-crafted business plan is a map to success — a thinking tool and a system for identifying and achieving your goals.
Even if you’re already in business, a one-page business plan that covers the essentials can be powerful. Owners with a business plan see growth 30% faster than those without one, and 71% of the fasted-growing companies have business plans.
Join us for this month’s program as Roslyn teaches us:
- what a business plan actually is
- the five key benefits of having a business plan
- the different methods for creating a business plan
About Roslyn Donald:
Roslyn Donald, Business Librarian for Jackson County Library District, has been working in libraries for longer than she cares to remember. Her previous career included ten years as business librarian for San Mateo Public Library and also time spent as Supervising Librarian, Adult & Teen Services for the Santa Clara County Library District. Her misspent youth included teaching English as a Second Language in the People’s Republic of China and Taiwan, a dreadful paralegal job, and a short stint as a Knowledge Engineer for a doomed startup named Sageware. In her spare time, she enjoys tabletop games, playing Civilization VI on her iPad, and trying to find a good local Chinese restaurant.
