It was a January afternoon in 2018, I was sitting on the couch, birds chirping, sun shining, and I was deep in thought. iPad on my lap, dog at my side snoozing, and I was contemplating what to do. I had basically no discovery calls on the calendar and I’d exhausted all options.
I knew I couldn’t post yet another post, or send another email to my very small list. I needed to meet new people. Set up new calls. But how?
Then I got this niggling in the back of my mind. I’d had this same niggling before, but ignored it. Now, it was back,whispering in my ear...”LinkedIn”. “Use LinkedIn”
My gremlin mind started making excuses...”You can’t use LinkedIn”. “LinkedIn is for corporate, ideal clients aren’t on LinkedIn”
Truth was, I was terrified. Terrified of coming across as sales-y and pushy. Terrified of reaching out to strangers.
But I knew one thing: I needed to book some calls, fast.
And I knew if I could get past my fear, that my intuition would be right, and I’d get them from LinkedIn. When I was in corporate, leading a $40M sales team and training hundred of sales reps, we started with relationship building. We had a simple process that worked over and over.
I knew there had to be a way to recreate this that I could repeat with the same results.
I went through the big mistakes I and wrote down what to AVOID.

I wrote everything down and created a system. Then I followed it and was blown away by my results. I was easily booking 3-5 calls with amazing potential clients. I built relationships, I got referrals.
